Nearly 40 years old, the owner of a thriving business, doing what I love and happily married nearly 18 years with two boys 13 and 11. This is how I pictured my future back when I first went to massage school in May of 2000. I had no idea how fast it would all fly and how quickly my plans would have to evolve along the way to accommodate life and how I was experiencing it versus how I expected it would be.
Healing work has been a part of my life since I was 16. I’ve always been drawn to the metaphysical and seemed to have the right touch when massaging people, I didn’t know massage was a career until midway way through college. I ended up living in an apartment with three guys my senior year at Rutgers; one of whom I fell in love with pretty much immediately and married 3 years later! In May of 2000 I graduated college and started massage school the same week.
Living in the Manahawkin area only a few months as a freshly wedded optimistic and naïve 24-year-old, I stumbled into creating my first business “WHOLE SELF” in 2002 out of a new local gym. (On a whim—trusted my gut and just walked into the construction trailer and asked if they’d had a Massage Therapist. Don’t know if you don’t ask, right?). After the birth of my son two years later I realized I no longer wanted the responsibilities of running a business while caring for an infant. I put my work on hold for a while, taking clients on super part time basis out of my home. After my second son was born in 2007 I hardly worked. There were months when my massage table was folded up, leaning against a wall collecting dust and cat hair! My young children were my priority and I am so grateful I was able to be a full time stay at home mom and that they were my sole focus.
When my youngest was about 2 I was guided to delve into Spiritual Intuitive Healing. I learned Reiki, read spiritual and personal growth books non-stop and regularly immersed myself in developing my intuitive abilities. By the time my youngest was in Kindergarten I expected to grow my business into something bigger, without much success. Within a year my husband needed to switch jobs which required us to move north, to the area of my childhood. This was the best thing for us as a family even though it was most definitely the hardest. “Trust in the divine timing” was my mantra and I leaned on all my support systems to get myself through the tremendous stress of uprooting our whole family.
In July of 2015, four months after moving our family up to Westwood, I opened my new healing business. I was finally where I had wanted to be, what I had been working towards since I started my healing journey in 2000. Trusting in Divine timing, following the signs and listening to that quiet inner voice is how I live my life! Without faith to guide us, life can really feel overwhelming and stressful. I always know there’s a greater plan at work, even if I can barely see 5 feet in front of me. I am so thankful for this unwavering trust in the Universe. Sharing my experiences and the sacred tools that help support and guide me is one of the best parts about the work that I do. I am so humbled and grateful to serve in this way and am lucky to call it my job.
